Product Management Comparison
We measure your team before we teach them anything.
Pragmatic Institute’s framework is good, and their alumni will tell you so.
The question is whether your team of PMs take the same path through it, and who’s still there in month four. We measure the gap first, train the whole team on one arc, and hand your leaders a transformation plan for the six weeks after.
Private cohort training · 1,500+ team engagements · 27 years
Delivery Model
With Productside, your team spends half the time working on your actual roadmap.
Comprehension and capability are not the same thing. Your team can explain the model on Friday and still run Monday the way they always have.
That’s where training budgets die. Only 12% of employees ever apply what they learned back on the job, and Harvard’s Michael Beer puts the share of corporate training that works at around 10%. His reason is specific: people return into a system that won’t let them work differently.
So we measure the system first, then spend half the room on your roadmap and your live decisions.
Assess
Diagnose before you teach
Individual Skills Assessment across 14 dimensions, plus a Team Assessment. Then a 150-criteria diagnostic against the Productside Blueprint where it’s warranted. The results decide the curriculum, not the other way around.
Train
50% hands-on, tailored
One customizable 24-hour arc, the whole team together, built around a scenario they construct themselves. Lecture gets you comprehension. Practice achieves capability.
Implement
The same expert, ninety days on
A Team Implementation Plan and 23 templates, run by the consultant who assessed you rather than handed to a separate success manager. Behavior change happens in your 1:1s, not ours, so your leaders get a six-week plan for running it. Then the same assessment at 3, 6 and 12 months, including where it didn’t move.
We don't stop at slides. We coach your team as they implement.
Pragmatic named the problem correctly. Then they prescribed a library.
Their Enterprise Access Pass page lists the problems it solves. First on the list: “Training is fragmented and inconsistent across teams.”
We agree. That is the problem. So look at the fix.
- Their answer: “every public course in the Pragmatic library is available to your entire organization,” selected module by module, person by person.
- Ours: one customizable 24-hour arc, the whole team together, built around a single scenario they construct themselves.

What you'll hear in the evaluation
“We already went with Pragmatic. We’re good for now.”
Plenty of teams have, and the framework holds up.
Two questions worth asking anyway. Has anyone re-measured the team since the training? And is the person coaching adoption today the same one who identified the gaps in the first place?
If the answer to both is no, the training happened but nothing tested whether it landed. That’s the gap we fill, and it doesn’t require replacing anything you’ve already bought.
“You’re more expensive than the alternative.”
Per seat, we land in the same range once the alternative is stacked to match the same scope. Their course prices are published per person, so your procurement lead can build that comparison in ten minutes and should.
Note what unit each side is quoted in. Theirs scales linearly with headcount and with every module each person picks. Ours is quoted once, for the whole engagement. Then ask what a skills baseline, an implementation plan and a re-assessment cost separately elsewhere. Mostly they aren’t sold separately.
“We tried training before and it didn’t stick.”
It usually doesn’t, when training is the whole plan. Only 12% of employees ever apply what they learned back on the job. Beer is specific about why: people return into a system that won’t let them work differently.
That’s what our diagnostic measures. In our sample report, one of seven prioritized recommendations was training. The other six were organizational.
Every engagement includes a six-week reinforcement plan: pick the specific behaviors you want changed, reinforce them in the 1:1s and team meetings you already run, then repeat the cycle. If you buy the Team Implementation Plan, we run it with you. If you don’t, you still leave with the plan.

Sometimes it isn’t. We’d rather say so now than in month four.
